Who We Are
Women Partnership for Peace (WPP) is a Somali women-led national NGO advancing women’s leadership, peacebuilding, protection and resilience across Somalia.
WPP was established in recognition of the central role Somali women play in conflict prevention, reconciliation, family and community resilience, and local development. Women frequently sustain households and mediate social tensions during crisis, yet remain underrepresented in formal decision-making and peace processes. WPP exists to strengthen women’s leadership, expand opportunities for meaningful participation, and connect locally led peacebuilding with practical humanitarian, resilience and development outcomes.
The organisation works with communities, government institutions, civil society, traditional and religious leaders, youth groups, women’s networks and development partners. Its programming is designed to address both immediate vulnerability and the structural drivers of repeated crisis, including conflict, displacement, inequality, weak access to services, livelihood insecurity and climate-related shocks.
